Media Upload System

How To Manage Your Photos And Videos

The Media Upload System allows restaurant staff to manage the visual assets displayed throughout the menu.

While menu content such as titles, descriptions, and prices is managed through Google Sheets, images and motion assets are managed separately through the Media Upload System. This separation allows menu content and visual presentation to be maintained independently while remaining connected within the live menu experience.

The upload system is designed to simplify media replacement. Restaurant staff can update images and motion assets without editing website files, modifying layouts, or changing menu structure.

What Can Be Uploaded

The Media Upload System supports:

  • Dish photography
  • Promotional photography
  • Restaurant photography
  • Introductory cover media
  • Closing cover media
  • Promotional visual content

Each uploaded asset is connected to a specific menu screen.

Uploading Media Assets

Updating menu photography and motion assets is performed through the Media Upload System.

Begin by selecting the menu screen you want to update from the slide selector. Each slide corresponds to a specific screen within the menu, allowing images and motion assets to be managed individually.

Once the destination slide has been selected, choose the file you want to upload from your device. Depending on the screen being updated, this may be a food photograph, promotional image, animated GIF, or video asset.

After selecting the file, press Upload to publish the new asset. The system automatically replaces the previous media assigned to that slide, ensuring the menu always displays the latest version without requiring additional configuration.

When the upload is complete, select View Changes to open the live menu and verify that the new asset appears correctly. This final review helps confirm image quality, positioning, and overall presentation before guests access the updated menu.

Because each slide manages its own media independently, restaurants can update individual dishes, promotional screens, introductory covers, and closing screens without affecting the rest of the menu experience.

Automatic Replacement

When a new asset is uploaded to a menu screen, the previous asset assigned to that screen is automatically replaced.

This helps keep media management simple and prevents multiple versions of the same asset from accumulating inside the menu system.

Supported Image Formats

The Media Upload System supports the following image formats:

FormatSupported
JPGYes
JPEGYes
PNGYes
WEBPYes

JPG and WEBP are recommended for most food photography because they provide excellent visual quality while maintaining reasonable file sizes.

PNG is most useful for logos, graphic elements, and assets requiring transparency.

Supported Motion Formats

Motion assets can be used to introduce movement and atmosphere within the menu experience.

FormatSupported
GIFYes
MP4Intro And Closing Screens

Animated GIFs are the recommended motion format for most menu editors. They are easy to create, easy to manage, and can be updated from virtually any device without requiring video conversion workflows.

MP4 files are reserved for dedicated video screens such as the introductory and closing menu covers.

File Size Limits

The Media Upload System supports uploads up to 100 MB per file.

For the best guest experience, images and motion assets should be optimized before uploading. Smaller files typically load faster on mobile networks while maintaining a smooth browsing experience.
